The sunflower is a national symbol of Ukraine. At the start of Russia’s invasion, civilians gave occupying soldiers sunflower seeds to put in their pockets. The confused soldiers didn’t understand that the implication is when their bodies died in the battle, they would nourish the seeds in their pockets and flowers would grow. THIS sunflower is made up of Molotov cocktails, used by civilian resistors as an anti tank weapon. The letters on the labels of the bottles in the sunflower shape spell out in Ukrainian “Russian warship go f*** yourself,” a battle cry from early in the invasion.  The lettering ringing the “flower,” in yellow against blue, are the phrases “slava Ukraine!
