A riff on my Queer Zoology work, I made this piece to be something that could be printed and put in a window, or made part of someone’s online profile.
I’m aware that acts of performative allyship are fraught. But myself and many others will attest to the fact that when we see signs like this in otherwise hostile places, it makes us feel a bit less alone. I chose the giraffe because I used it for another illustration with the same sentiment. I wanted something unusual and disarming.
